Before scheduling a fingerprinting appointment, please confirm with your district that your fingerprinting should be completed through our office and check whether they accept our results or have alternate fingerprinting procedures for their substitute teachers.
The general substitute form must clearly state “Fingerprint-based background check for substitute teachers/employees.”
What to bring to your appointment:
- A completed form (provided by your district or downloaded here)
- A valid government-issued photo ID
- A $50 payment (cash, check, Visa, Mastercard, or Discover)
The individual whose name appears on the payment form must be present.
Results:
You will receive your background check results within 2–3 weeks. The results packet can be presented to any DuPage County school district for addition to its substitute teaching roster within 90 days. Districts may make a copy and return the original to you. The same results can be used for multiple DuPage County school districts, as long as they are presented within 90 days of the results date.
You must have a fingerprint authorization form from a district that contracts with the DuPage Regional Office of Education for New Hire fingerprinting. The form from the district will have our information on the top, the district name/authorizing signature, and the wording “Fingerprint Authorization & Release for Single District New Hire.”
Please call 630-407-5800 to schedule an appointment. You will need to bring to your appointment: your completed form (given to you by the district) and your photo ID.
The results of the background check will go directly to the school district, usually within a week. You can request a copy of the results from the district, if you want one. We are unable to provide you with a copy as those results go directly to the district.
