Student Online Personal Protection Act (SOPPA)

Effective July 1, 2021, school districts will be required by the Student Online Personal Protection Act (SOPPA) to provide additional guarantees that student data is protected when collected by educational technology companies, and that data is used for beneficial purposes only (105 ILCS 85).

Along with other educational institutions in Illinois, The DuPage ROE and Partners for Success (which also houses ALOP/Rebound programs) work continuously to comply with SOPPA requirements by obtaining agreements with vendors in an effort to protect student data. These agreements can be viewed by clicking here or on the link in the resources box to the right.
